Back pain is one of the most common physical ailments, affecting millions of people around the world. It can range from a minor ache to a chronic, debilitating condition that interferes with your work and daily activities. If you suffer from back pain, it’s important to know what treatments are available and which ones work best for your particular situation. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the most effective ways to get lasting relief from back pain so that you can live life without being limited by discomfort or stiffness.

The Fastest Way to Relieve Back Pain
One of the fastest ways to relieve back pain is by visiting a postural alignment specialist or physical therapist. A trained professional can assess your condition and recommend the best course of action to reduce and manage your discomfort. Did you know that poor posture is often directly related to chronic pain? Posture exercises and corrective exercises are often used for chronic back pain, as it helps to align the joints, increase stability, build strength, improve flexibility, and decrease inflammation in the area. During treatment, your postural alignment therapist can also teach you exercises that can help to prevent future pain or discomfort. Additionally, lifestyle modifications may be recommended such as avoiding certain types of positions or activities in order to reduce the risk of further injury as well as other lifestyle related factors.
Relieve Back Pain in 5 Minutes
Sometimes, quick relief from back pain is necessary. For those moments, there are over the counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen that can be taken to numb the pain signals. Heat and cold packs can also provide temporary relief from back pain. To apply a heat pack, use a hot water bottle or heating pad and place it on the area of discomfort for up to 20 minutes. To apply a cold pack, use an ice pack or cold compress and place it on the same spot for 10-20 minutes. Often times, alternating between hot and cold can provide relief and promote healing.
Here is something you can try to reduce back pain. Lay on your back with legs up on a chair and knees bent at a ninety degree angle can be a great position to relieve back pain. In this position focus on nice big diaphragmatic breaths. Breathe in through the nose allowing the breath to expand the lower abdomen in all directions. Then exhale through the mouth allowing your body to soften and relax. Do this for about 5 minutes. Then take your time coming up to a standing position and notice if things feel better.
Hot showers may be helpful in relieving back pain. The warm water helps to relax tense muscles, which in turn can reduce the intensity of the pain signals. Additionally, the heat from a hot shower increases circulation and reduces inflammation, which can help to reduce pain. However, it is important to keep in mind that hot showers should not replace other treatments for back pain such as physical therapy or medications.

To Sit or Lay Down with Lower Back Pain?
The most comfortable position for you depends on your individual situation and what type of back pain you are experiencing. Generally, it is better to alternate between the two positions. However, I always recommend listening to your body. The body will tell you through pain if it doesn’t like a certain position. Likewise, the absence of pain indicates that the body is good in that position. If you sit for too long, your muscles may become stiff and irritated. Additionally, sitting in the same position can cause pressure on your spine that could worsen lower back pain. On the other hand, laying down for extended periods of time can also lead to stiffness or make existing pain worse. The best option is to find a balance between sitting and lying down. I also recommend movement — finding ways to move that feel good to your body and do not aggravate the pain.
When do Back Pain gets Serious?
One of the most important steps to take when experiencing back pain is to understand its seriousness. If the pain persists for more than a few days, or if it worsens, it’s best to seek medical advice from your doctor or a qualified health professional. They will be able to assess the cause and recommend treatments for you. Common causes of back pain can include muscle spasms, herniated discs, sciatica, and poor posture.
Back pain can be a debilitating condition and it is important to understand the various treatments available. With proper treatment options and lifestyle modifications, you should soon find yourself with reduced levels of back pain so you can get back to doing what you love!
